I just wanted to let you all know that Bard's Oath is now available for pre-order on amazon: [link]

The release date is November 27th 2012!

FINALLY 8D

EDIT: Bard's Oath's Amazon page now includes the cover art! Still no synopsis as of yet and it looks like they cropped the full cover art and used an Anne McCaffrey review from The Last Dragonlord on it but it looks good!

Any guesses as to the plot? What do you guys want to see?

I'm kinda thinking she doesn't have a lot of natural tallent as a writer. she just has to work towards it real hard to get it right. Regardless of that, she has done a magnificent job on her previous two books. I have looked for signs of a sequal a few times a year since I read this series back in 2000.

Hu-rah for hard work over natural tallent :)

What makes you think she doesn't have natural talent? *confused*

Just that some people are capable of just sitting and writing. Then coming up with something amazing in a short amount of time. I firmly believe that anyone is capable of writing an excellent book given the time and dedication to writing.

I say that she doesn't particularly have an abundance of natural tallent because of how long it took for her to write her 2 books, and now the third. it seems like it took her some 7 years to write the first book? I may be remebering that number wrong. Its essentially taken her a total of what? some 11 or 12 years to write three books?

I'm not disparaging her to say the least. To be capable of the dedication of writing a book at all is something increadible, much more when refering to a book that is quite well written. I know I will never be able to write a book even with my intelligence and creativity, all because I lack any dedication... and i'm just plain lazy.

I just can't help but look at other authors such as Anne McCaffery, Tamora Pierce, or even the younger Christopher Paolini, Who has completed an incredible 4 books in quite a respectable time frame. They simply have more natural tallent than Joanne. Nothing at all against Joanne, simply an observation. If anything, her not being a "natural" at writing makes it even more impressive that she has written two very well recieved books.

Well I'll have to respectfully disagree with you on this. She had a period of time where she had a child (at over 50 years of age) and a full time job. Not having the time to write a book is different than just taking a long time.

I don't think the time it takes to write a book has *anything* to do with how much "natural talent" someone has.

I guess that we'll see quite a bit of Otter and also a good amount of Leet (who I think might be key), given the title and Joanne's tag of "How beautiful things can be corrupted"

Hopefully there will also be a certain little waterdragon

I had hoped that she might go back and tell his life story if only through flashbacks and retrospective but I'd also like to see something new. I will sob forever if Otter dies. Like big fat awful tears.

I also want to see more of Shima, possibly an explanation as to why the Truedragons aren't feeling potential dragonlords anymore and a bit of a continuation of the Jehanglen storyline.

Also lots of Miune. And Lleld.
